More Than Work Campaign

April 8, 2025

A message from OPWDD Acting Commissioner Willow Baer,

We are so excited to announce the second year of the joint OPWDD and service provider #MoreThanWork DSP Recruitment Campaign is now available across New York State on tv and computer screens, gas pumps, billboards, buses, community centers and on some of your favorite radio stations.  The campaign has had a refresh as we continue to promote the rewarding role of direct support and what it means to people with developmental disabilities.

The Campaign’s inaugural year drove nearly 500,000 visitors to the campaign website to learn about the career path and 50,000 people to “click through” to provider agency websites to learn about career opportunities. The ad campaign has also delivered over 241 million total ad impressions and more than 23 million complete video views in the last year, showing it is successfully raising awareness of the direct support profession.

While the central theme of “More Than Work” remains core to the messaging, you will notice an updated look to the graphics, digital advertising displays and newly launched tv commercial. Through the updated campaign, people who think their skills might not suit the role of a DSP are asked to “Think Again” by showing correlations to people’s current skills and goals as a parent returning to work, or a former caregiver looking to return to the field, or a recent graduate thinking about their next move.

This year, to ensure that service providers who aren’t yet participating know how to take part in this free to them service, we have added a contact form at the bottom of the https://link.edgepilot.com/s/e019f03c/03lx4NfkkE2KcgZfizFhZQ?u=http://www.directsupportcareers.com/ homepage.

I encourage you to refer anyone you know who’s looking for their next career move to visit directsupportcareers.com and learn about the rewarding careers that exist in this field.

Be on the lookout for the new advertising in every corner of New York State – we can’t wait to see what this year brings!

Thank you,
Willow Baer,
Acting Commissioner
