In Home Behavior Specialist

Catholic Charities Disabilities Services (CCDS), a leader in services for individuals with developmental disabilities, is seeking an In Home Behavior Specialist to work with families and individuals with developmental disabilities through the Family Support Services grant program.

Schedule: Flexible scheduling; approximately 5 hours per week.

Job Summary: The In-Home Behavior Specialist is assigned to serve individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities through a 100% state funded Family Support Services grant program. This position was designed to be of service not only to individuals in need who are living at home, but also to serve as a support for their family members.

Responsibilities include; but are not limited to:

  • Provide in home behavioral service, including testing, evaluation, consultation, intervention, and development of behavioral management plans and goals as required by the needs of the individual being served.
  • Provide education and training to family members regarding behavioral strategies.
  • Provide each individual served with ongoing evaluations and assessments, as appropriate, with recommendations for strategies. Such services may include development of behavioral management plans, intervention strategies, service plans and goals, and adaptive skills and other services.
  • Develop a treatment plan based on evaluation findings (ie. design of an appropriate behavioral model plan).
  • Report to his or her supervisor on the treatment plan and/or behavioral needs of each individual on an ongoing basis to be determined by the supervisor.
  • Create and maintain monthly progress notes for ongoing submission to the supervisor.
  • Participate in the continuing assessments of individuals being served for the purpose of planning, implementing, and monitoring program/treatment plans.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled appointments.
  • Maintain a good working relationship and appropriate boundaries with individuals, their families, and agency co-workers.
  • Attend agency trainings as required.
  • Maintains current knowledge base of DDRO and OPWDD, policies, procedures and regulations related to behavioral services
  • Adheres to all guidelines and regulations set forth by the agency’s business plan(s) and/or other oversight entities such as, but not limited to; OPWDD, CDC, DOH.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or Social Work is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
  • A valid New York State driver’s license and personal transportation are required.
