About Abbie: Prior to joining our ICS team, Abbie was the Assistant Program Manager at a nonprofit in Colorado called Developmental Pathways. There she supervised two teams of case managers and also managed a caseload of her own. She worked with her teams at allocating Medicaid waiver funding to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for several HCBS waivers and ensured service satisfaction. Before that she worked as an addiction counselor and shift coordinator at Arapahoe House, a social model detoxification center.
Abbie has a deep passion to help others who are labeled as “different.” Being born with a physical disability has allowed Abbie to truly relate to individuals with disabilities who have been told that they cannot do something that they want to do. She believes that everyone can achieve their dreams with some guidance, help, and support. Every day Abbie is inspired by the individuals supported by CCDS, and their unique strengths. “They (the people she supports at CCDS) motivate me to be a better person and make me want to go above and beyond to ensure that their needs and wants are being met.” – says Abbie. When she’s not at work Abbie enjoys backpacking, hiking with her dogs, mountain biking, traveling, and yoga. In the summer of 2016 she backpacked a third of the Colorado trail, 150 miles!
