Behavior Specialist

Location: Colonie, NY; some travel to our residential programs in the Capital District will be necessary

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm; some flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the program

Position Description:

We are seeking a Behavior Specialist to join our Clinical Team providing behavioral services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are served in our residential program.   Services include analysis, evaluation, consultation, intervention, and development of behavioral plans and goals as required by regulations and/or the needs of the individuals served. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training/Licensure:

  • National board certification in behavioral analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or
  • A Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical intervention, or a related human services field and have or obtain OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or
  • A New York State license in Mental Health Counseling and have or obtain OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/Training/Licensure:

  • At least a Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or
  • National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master's degree in behavior analysis; or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or
  • a New York State license in mental health counseling;

AND Experience:

  • Have at least five (5) years of experience:
    • working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or
    • providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans.

Valid NYS Driver License and personal transportation also required.
